Day 16

Shopping on our way to Urique Canyon
A view of Urique Canyon
We arose about 5:30 am in Cerocahui very cold. Clif tried to start a fire to warm the room, no luck.  We left about 7:00 am on a bus ride to the Urique Canyon Overlook.  After about 1 hour of bumpy and narrow dirt roads we arrived.  Good driver!  We spent about 40 minutes there with the Urique town and river below.  There was a beautiful view of a portion of the largest (but not deepest) canyon in the Copper Canyon Chain.   It was our 3rd look at the Urique Canyon.  It’s one Big Long Canyon.

Jesuit Mission San Francisco Xavier
We arrived back at the Mission Hotel about 11:00am.  Several of us went into the Jesuit Mission San Francisco Xavier (SFX).  We also walked around the square of the old town.

We ate an enjoyable lunch at the hotel before boarding our bus to meet the train at Bauichivo.

We went to the dining car for dinner at 5:00 pm as it was getting dark. With a full meal we dozed until we arrived at El Fuerte station at about 7:00 pm.  It was then a pleasant and restful 1 hour trip by bus to our campground (Copper Canyon RV Park in Los Mochis).  HOME!!  We relaxed, put things away and headed for bed.
